No doc business loans, and what an hour of paperwork is actually worth

No doc means no tax returns and no financial statements. It never means no documents. Here is the real list, and what the convenience costs on the same $50,000.

Nobody funds a business on nothing. What the phrase no doc actually means in this market is no tax returns, no financial statements, and no business plan. You will still hand over bank statements, a one page application, your ID, and a voided check, and you will still be verified in several ways you may not expect.

That is not a criticism of the product. Low documentation lending is genuinely useful and it funds real businesses in two days. It is just priced, and the price is large and specific. Once you can see what it costs, you can decide whether the paperwork is worth avoiding, which is a much better question than whether no doc loans are good or bad.

What you actually still provide

Here is the honest list for a typical low documentation working capital file. None of it takes longer than an afternoon, which is the whole appeal.

  • Three to six months of business bank statements, as PDFs from the bank rather than screenshots. This is the underwriting file. See how lenders read them.
  • A one page application: legal name, entity type, EIN, address, time in business, ownership, amount requested, and use of funds.
  • Driver's license and a voided business check. The check proves the account belongs to the business and sets up the debit.
  • A credit pull, usually soft at application and hard at closing, on the owner's personal file.
  • Read only bank access, through a connection service or a temporary login, at most funders now. This has quietly replaced statement review at the fastest shops.
  • Merchant processing statements, if any part of the repayment is tied to card volume.

And here is what no doc really removes: business tax returns, personal tax returns, a profit and loss statement, a balance sheet, a debt schedule, a business plan, projections, and a signed 4506-C letting the lender pull your returns from the IRS. That is a real stack of paperwork and skipping it is a real convenience. It is also every document that would prove you are profitable.

What the convenience costs on $50,000

Hold the amount and the term constant so the comparison is honest. Fifty thousand dollars, twelve months, three levels of documentation.

Full doc bank term loan14 percent, monthly payments$3,876Low doc online term loan28 percent, monthly payments$7,896No doc working capital1.28 factor, weekly payments, 8 months$14,000
Cost of $50,000 over twelve months, by how much documentation you provide
The same $50,000 over the same twelve months, by how much paperwork you provide
LevelWhat you provideStructureTotal repaidCost of the money
Full docTwo years of returns, financials, debt schedule, 4506-C14 percent amortizing over 12 months$53,876$3,876
Low docSix months of statements, application, credit pull28 percent amortizing over 12 months$57,896$7,896
No docThree months of statements and an application1.28 factor over 8 months, paid weekly$64,000$14,000

The gap between the top row and the bottom row is $10,124 on $50,000. Assembling a full document package takes most owners eight to twelve hours if the books are already current. That works out to roughly $1,000 an hour for gathering paperwork, which is almost certainly the highest paid work available to you this quarter. If your books are not current, the honest number is higher because you also have to fix the bookkeeping, but you needed to do that anyway.

None of that argues against no doc money when the clock is real. If a piece of equipment is at auction Thursday, or payroll clears Friday, or a supplier is holding a container, then the comparison is not against a cheaper loan. It is against not having the money. What it argues against is using no doc pricing for something you could have planned three weeks ago.

What a genuine two day no doc file looks like, hour by hour

That calendar is what you are buying. Two business days from application to money in the account, with the first debit hitting a week later. Notice how little of that time is underwriting and how much of it is signatures and phone calls. When a file takes five days instead of two, it is almost never the funder, and the fix is having the statements and the voided check ready before you start rather than hunting for them while the offer sits.

The one genuinely good low doc product

There is an exception on this list that almost nobody searching for a no doc loan knows about. Application only equipment financing is real low doc lending at conventional pricing, and it is the best deal in this entire category.

What it is
Financing on a specific machine, truck, or trailer, approved on a one page application and a credit pull with no financial statements
Typical limit
Commonly up to $150,000, and at some funders $250,000 or higher for established businesses in familiar industries
Rate
Commonly 9 to 20 percent depending on credit, time in business, and how liquid the equipment is
Time to approval
Same day to two days, which is competitive with any advance
Why it works
The lender can repossess and resell a titled or serialized asset, so the collateral replaces the financial statements
The catch
The money has to buy the equipment. It cannot be spent on payroll or inventory

If the money is going toward a hard asset, stop looking at working capital products entirely and read equipment financing. You get low documentation, fast approval, and pricing that is a fraction of a factor rate deal. If you already own equipment outright, equipment cash out does the same thing with cash you can spend freely.

No doc does not mean no verification

Skipping documents is not the same as skipping diligence, and it surprises people how much checking happens in a two day file.

  • Bank verification through a connection service or a read only login. The funder sees balances, deposits, and every other debit hitting the account in real time.
  • Business verification: secretary of state filing status, EIN match, entity age, and good standing. See know your business.
  • A merchant verification call, sometimes to your landlord or a listed phone number, to confirm the business exists at the address given.
  • Identity, OFAC, and fraud screening on the owner, which is required and is not waived for anybody.
  • A UCC search to find open positions. Every existing advance shows up both in the lien records and as a debit in the statements, so never omit one.

The practical consequence: a no doc file is fast, not lenient. What actually gets declined here is the same thing that gets declined everywhere, which is negative days, a falling deposit trend, and undisclosed positions. Read common decline reasons before you apply, because in a low doc process you get one look and there is no financial statement to explain the bad month away.

What Exp Capital does with this

Exp Capital Solutions is a broker. We do not fund, approve, or price anything. What we do when someone asks for a no doc loan is ask two questions first: how fast do you actually need it, and what is the money buying. If the answer is a hard asset, we point you at application only equipment financing at a fraction of the cost. If you have two weeks and current books, we show you what the documents are worth in dollars. And if the clock is genuinely real, we run the low doc file properly and put every fee in front of you before you sign, which is the part of this market that most desks skip.

Questions people actually ask

What documents do I really need for a no doc business loan?
Three to six months of business bank statements, a one page application, a driver's license, and a voided business check. Most funders now also want read only access to your bank account. What you skip is tax returns, financial statements, a debt schedule, projections, and a 4506-C authorization.
Is there such a thing as a business loan with no credit check?
Essentially no. Almost every funder runs at least a soft pull on the owner at application, plus identity and fraud screening that is legally required and never waived. Advertising that promises no credit check and guaranteed approval is collecting your information to sell, not making you an offer.
How much more does a no doc loan cost?
On $50,000 over twelve months, a full document bank term loan at 14 percent costs about $3,876 while a no doc advance at a 1.28 factor costs about $14,000. That gap of roughly $10,000 is what you pay for skipping eight to twelve hours of paperwork, so the documents are worth about $1,000 an hour.
How fast can a no doc loan fund?
A complete file submitted in the morning is often approved the same day and funded within 24 to 48 hours. The delay is almost never underwriting. It is waiting on a bank statement, a signature, or a verification call that nobody answers, all of which are inside your control.
Can I get no doc equipment financing?
Yes, and it is the best product in this category. Application only equipment programs approve up to roughly $150,000, and higher at some funders, on a one page application and a credit pull with no financial statements. Pricing is conventional rather than factor based, because the equipment itself is the collateral.
Does a no doc loan hurt my credit?
The application usually starts as a soft pull, which does not affect your score, and becomes a hard pull at closing. Most working capital advances do not report to consumer bureaus, so paying perfectly will not build your score. A default and the collection activity that follows absolutely can damage it.
